Pumping Under Pressure

At Warren Rupp, we are committed to building a brighter world because we believe the future is truly what you make it. It is imperative to consider how our business impacts our employees, our communities, and our environment, and that means we must put people first. To improve the working environment and efficiency of our own manufacturing facility we have invested in a state-of-the-art Material Flow Optimization system. This system helps reduce the cycle time to build each pump which drastically increased the number of pumps we can manufacture, all while providing our employees with a more accommodating, less taxing, and more enjoyable workplace. That is one great example of how Warren Rupp continues to make a difference in our own facility and local area, but our future-oriented approach doesn’t stop there.

That same mindset flows out from Warren Rupp in all directions. We build and sell Air Operated Double Diaphragm (AODD) pumps, but the purpose behind our passion for pumps is to serve the needs of our customers more efficient and environmentally conscious ways. One example of this attitude can be drawn from the market applications we sell our pumps into.

This month we launched two new additions to our High Pressure Pump product line: 1 and 2 inch Full Flow version in both aluminum and stainless steel configurations under both of our brands, Sandpiper and Versamatic. These units feature bolted leak proof design, and are capable of pumping at twice the pressure of the standard AOD pumps. Utilizing these units means that these pumps can be applied for some jobs that 1 to 1 AOD pumps just cannot handle, lending them to perfectly fit to some different applications.

Currently our existing High Pressure pumps are sold into some very specific and unique applications. Filter presses, a highly specialized piece of equipment utilized in removing particulate (solid matter of varying sizes) from a fluid in order to purify and remove contaminates, are one of these unique applications. Filter presses can be found in beverage production, mine dewatering, water recycling, and power generation to name just a few.

Filter presses take advantage of the high pressure capability of a High Pressure AOD pump in order to force the fluids through a filter (cloth, paper, or other material designed to catch the particulate suspended in the fluid). On the other side the beverage or other fluid has had the solids removed and, specifically for water, is recyclable and ready to perform another task. In the end a result of filter presses and high pressure pumps is that it helps manufacturers, municipalities, and industry conserve water that could be necessary for their operation, ultimately leading to a cleaner, greener future.

Initiatives and projects like this represent one of many ways Warren Rupp is giving back to the world and to our future. The team here is dedicated to producing more efficient and specialized pumps to serve in the most critical functions. Knowing that our pumps are participating in the process of helping to reduce waste, reusing material, and recycling represent the global initiative of IDEX at large. We are building trust with our customers, putting service before self, working toward building a legacy of greatness, and positively that helps impact the world around us, one pump at a time.
